Cartesian Plane & Excel 2013

ALGEBRA CARTESIAN PLANE & EXCEL 2013

Mathematics: Algebra: Cartesian Plane

What is the Cartesian Plane? It is also called Cartesian Graph and Cartesian Coordinate System. It was invented by Rene Descartes, a Frenchman who sometimes think things through while lying in his bed. The Cartesian plane is just that, a plane, or a graph, or a system, of representing a point, line, or shape, using its coordinates, the numbers in the X-Axis and Y-Axis, the horizontal axis and vertical axis, respectively, that crosses the origin with the coordinates of (0, 0).

How does a Cartesian Plane look like? It has 4 quadrants starting from Quadrant I, where both axes are positive, then turning counterclockwise for the other quadrants.

  Quadrant II    |     Quadrant I

                 |

                 |
                 |
  Quadrant III   |     Quadrant IV

Who uses Cartesian plane? Cartesian plane is used everywhere. A plane uses Cartesian plane in its instrument panels. It is also used in an Excel spreadsheet, though the X and Y axes have been moved in the same place that Java graphics also placed them.

Look up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a Cartesian plane!

What is Excel? Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet application where you can do accounting, graphing, or draw things. The vertical axis of Excel goes from coordinate 0 to coordinate 1048576 and the horizontal axis goes from coordinate A to coordinate XFD.

What is the most important part of Excel? The cells are the most important part of Excel. It's where you put all your data and your formulas. You don't need to use any of the ribbon icons if you know how to type your formulas.

Excel in math!
